Ombre Haircolor
Ombre hair color is were the hair goes from darker to ligter,it has been seen on stars such as Drew Barrymore, and Rachel Bilson.
Ombre hair color, can easily be done at home, because the key to this look is not perfect, what you'll want to dark is pick a dye(preferably demi permanent) that is one to two shades darker than your current color.
Step 1.Mix the color according to the manufacturers directions.Put on gloves.
Step 2.Section your hair into four sections for easier color distribution.
Step 3.Apply the color at the roots and blend it down one or two inches onto the hair.then take small sections and blend the color down further.
Step 3.timing is key, most colors process in 25 to 30 minutes, follow your directions.
Step 4.wash and condition your hair, anytime you color your hair its a good idea to use a deep conditioner to seal in the color, then style as usual and enjoy your ombre color!!

Beating the Heat
Today heaat damage is one of the contributing factors of damaged hair.Whether you use a flat iron, curling irons, rollers,or just a blow dryer,it all takes a toll on our hair.Heat damage is 100% preventable although most of us dont take the time to go the extra mile for our hair.Heat protection starts in your shower,a great conditioner really helps your hair care regimen,if you use heat tools on a regular basis, then youll want a conditioner that is very moisturizing and/or repairs damage. After the shower youll want a leave-in conditioner that has a heat protectant to protect from heat damage caused by a blow dryer.I recommend Redken Satin wear ultimate blow dry lotion..Next before flat ironing spray each section of hair with a heat protectant such as Chi 44 Iron Guard. If your curling the hair then find a heat protectant that is meant for use with curling irons or hot rollers.Even with consistent use of heat protection products, regular trims are mandatory in mainting healthy hair; The Hair Guru,J Blake

Know Your Hair
Understanding your hair texture, natural color, how much curl you have, will give you a better understanding of what chemical process you can do to your hair without causing extreme damaging. For instance,if you have very fine hair a sodium hydroxide relaxer will cause extreme damage. If your hair hair is very dry or already damaged then you shouldnt use bleach.I myself have very thick, wavy, frizzy hair and i can bleach my hair 3 times in one day and get it white and only have slight damage;but that doesnt mean everyone will get the same results. If your in doubt about your texture, porosity, wave pattern, consult your hairdresser and have them explain it to you.Wishing everyone a great day,J Blake.
Cell Phone Care
Cellphones are not cheap,by any means,so its important to take care of them.In doing so,you will need two things,1.screen protector.2.some kind of cover, whether it be a hard case,or a soft silicone one.Screen protectors will protector your screen from becoming scuffed and scratched.there are a few different kinds, clear, matte(no glare),mirror, and privacy. There are also many kinds of phone covers cases, hard cases, soft silicone or rubber ones,or a very popular brand,Otterbox, which can be a bit pricey. So these two items should keep your phone in great shape.Until next time,J Blake.
An explanation
As youve noticed, the name of my blog is The Hair Guru, with that said my posts wont just be about hair, about 90% will be but i also will talk about other things i know about such as skincare, make up,waxing and electronics.Lets face it,it would be awfully boring if i just talk about hair the whole time, and also i want people to know that i dont just, eat, sleep, and breathe hair.So two more posts will be coming today.Until then,J Blake.

Tips to change hairstyles
Once you've worn a hair style for so long it gets old.If you desire a new style, dont go change your hair color,in fact some of the simplist changes can make a dramatic difference
For instance, parting your hair on the opposite side that you usually do,or if you have a center part, try a side part.tip#2 if you normally wear straight hair or curly hair, change it up,if your hair is straight, wear it curly, vice versa.Want longer thicker hair?maybe opt for clip in extensions.
have a great day and have fun finding your perfect hairstyle!!

Which Mobile Device is right for you?
Today we have many different types of cell phones available, and alot of people buy one only to find that theyre unhappy with theyre choice.Furthermore,im here today(yes iknow electronics, not just hair haha) to explain my experience with different mobile devices operating systems.
1.Android-i have had 4 Android phones, all from Verizon Wireless.2 Motorola droids A855,Motorola Droid 2 A955,and the HTC Inredible.Motorola's droids are more user friendly than HTC's version, from my own experience,Android itself is okay, but it still has aloot of bugs that arent fixed, such apps crashing frequently, but the android market does have alot of great apps,as well as quite a few useless ones,so overall i give Android a 6/10
2.Blackberry-I have had three Blackberry devices, the Blackberry Curve 8330,The Blackberry Pearl 8130,and The Blackberry Tour 9630.BlackBerry phones are great, they have decent battery life, the newer ones are very sleek and the set up of the menu and homescreen is very nice, the only flaw is the BlackBerry App world. They do not have as many apps as the Android Market, but the Blackberry is a great device if you send and recieve and recieve alot of emails.Blackberry recieves 7/10
3.Apple-i have had three iphones..The iPhone 8GB,the iPhone 3G 8GB,and my current phone the iPhone 3GS 32GB.I love the iPhone, the menu and the style is very recognizeable and distinctive. For the most part its pretty fast, until you get alot of things going at once, such as listening to the iPod,texting and browsing the web.iPhones arent very customizable,UNLESS you jailbreak it.Jailbreaking is now legal in the US,and basically it just allows you to download third party apps not approved by Apple, however jailbreaking does void your warranty, unless you restore it.Battery life on the iPhone is decent but coul be better. If you order the iPhone or buy a used one, make sure you put an unactive sim card in the phone before connecting to iTunes, you have to activate it on itunes.Overrall im very happy with my iPhone and i give it a 10/10
DISCLAMIER:These were all my personal opinions,im not in any way associated with or being paid by any of the companies to promote sales, these were just my opinions from experience with each device.
Hopefully this helps,if your debating which smart phone to get the only way to know which you like is to go into the store and look at and mess with one of the phones that the store has out for people to look at.
Have a great day and have fun smart phone shopping!

Maintaining Colored Hair
Did you know about 94% of America's population is made up of people who color their hair?People color their hair for many reasons,to cover gray,to lighten or darken your natural color,or maybe you just want a fun purple streak in your hair;but whatever color service you do,you have to maintain the color.
1.Bleaching-A common misconception with bleached hair is theirs basically no maintnence, which if false, since bleaching lightens hair dramatically, when your roots grow out even the slightest itll be noticeable. Also, bleaching is not cheap, even if you do it yourself, you have to buy the bleach, the developer,a toner(which youll more than likely need) and a developer for the toner.however if your a smart shopper, usually Sallys Beauty Supply,or your local beauty supply will sale the bleach powder in the tubs,it should be anywhere from $16 to $20,and you get atleast 7 uses, which beats the one use $3 packets of bleach. You should also but your developer in a larger size, itll all pay off in the long run.Another common misconception is people with bleached think that all they have to do to maintain the color is bleach and tone there rots every two months, which is also false.Toners are demi permanent color that deposit blue or purple tones to cancel out any orange or yellow tones in bleached hair.Being as,the toner is demi permanent it washes out eventually and your hair will start getting a yellow tone to it,a quick fix is to use a purple based shampoo for blonde,or gray hair, use that once a week(two frequently can cause your hair to have a lavender tint)and your hair shouldnt have any yellow tones.
2.Semi-permanent Hair color-semi permanent color lasts 3 washes at the most, this can consist of anything from colored hair gel or spray hair color,or temporary hair color, people usually use semi permanent to add a bizarre color such as pink or blue to their hair temporarily,it wont damage the hair because it doesnt penetrate the hair cuticle.
3.Demi-permanent hair color-Dont confuse semi permanent and demi permant color.demi permanent usually lasts up to 26 shampoos.demi permanent color will only darker or enhance hair color,it will not lighten it.Demi permanent adds intensive shine and also will not damage the hair.
4.Permanent hair color-Permanent hair color is whats easiest to find, the box dyes you get at wal-mart or drugstores is usually permanent.Permanent color is recommended for grey hair because it alters your hair, its lifts and then deposits color, which can be somewhat drying to the hair after a while(therefore make sure to invest in a great moisturizing conditioner)permanent color will also lighten hair, however it will not lighten hair that has been previously colored with permanent color.Lets say you have natuaral black hair that youve never colored, and you apple a light blonde permanent color, what it will do is lighten your hair to a reddish brown, therefore if your wanting bleach blonde hair you must use bleach.
5.Maintenance-No color is permanent, its just not.Even though permanent color is advertised as permanent it will fade, however,it wont fade back to your natural color, being as permanent lifts then deposits color. Therefore, invest in a good color protecting shampoo(sulfate free preferably) and a good moisturizing conditioner.Lastly, protein treatments, moisturing masks, etc, are great ways to keep your colored hair healthy, theyre more intensive then your every day conditioner so shampoo youru hair, apply a treatment, cover hair with a shower cap and do housework to give the treatment time to penetrate the hair cuticle.
So once again,im J Blake,The Hair Guru wishing everyone a great day and fabulous color!
